New Jersey Room

One of the hidden treasures of the Burlington County Library is the New Jersey Room, a space dedicated to family and local history research. While the crown jewel of the collection is an extensive  microfilm collection and newspaper index, there’s quite a bit more here to explore!

The New Jersey Room is your one-stop-shop for all things related to the history of the Garden State. We have history books on the whole state, individual counties and cities, time periods, and specific events. The wide array of maps available to peruse are also of great assistance to those looking to learn about Burlington County and beyond.

Not only do we have many resources dedicated to the state’s past, but for those interested in finding out more about their family’s past the New Jersey Room contains a wealth of genealogical information. If you have ancestors from South Jersey, try typing their surname in our catalog and you might be surprised by what you find. Even if a search comes up blank we have non-cataloged record collections invaluable to any prospective researcher, especially our Family Files of donated materials. Transcriptions of church cemetery records, Revolutionary era military pensions, funeral home ledgers, and more are available to view on site. Don’t hesitate to reach out by phone or through our website to find out more about the collection and get started on your research today!
