Play at Maple Shade Library

| Maple Shade Library

“Research shows play can improve children's abilities to plan, organize, get along with others and regulate emotions,” according to the American Academy of Pediatrics. “In addition, play helps with language, math and social skills, and even helps children cope with stress.”

We agree, and we think spending time at the library is a great way for children to learn to share, improve their language skills, and become comfortable in a safe and peaceful environment that puts their needs first. And it is fun for parents and caregivers, too. At the Maple Shade Library, we provide comfortable and clean play spaces, access to games, puzzles, and STEM activities, as well as scavenger hunts, crafts, and coloring sheets. You won’t be bored in Maple Shade!

Check out:

  • Activity Stations and Play Spaces: Our activity station with rotating themes and our diner are great spaces to take your imagination for a spin.
  • Take-and-Play Games and Puzzles: Stay awhile at the library and put together a puzzle or challenge your friends to a board game.
  • The I-Spy Tank: What do you spy with your little eye? Find the pieces and enter the contest for a prize.
  • Scavenger Hunt: One character is missing, but the others are out in the stacks waiting to be found!
  • Magic Desktop: Sign onto the computer featuring Magic Desktop and open a world of wonder. You’ll find special games, videos and lessons for children 2 to 12. Look for the wizard hat icon on the desktop!
  • Teen Tabletop Mural: There’s a special place for tweens and teens in the library and it’s located right under the shark! Here, you can help color the teen tabletop mural, which boasts a new theme each month.
  • Grab-and-Go Crafts for Kids and Teens: When you are heading out of the library, don’t forget to grab a craft to make at home. Pre-packaged crafts for children are available at the entrance to the children’s sections, and crafts for teens can be found in the teen section. Just look for the shark!

Don’t forget to grab a calendar on your way out, too. We have lots of fantastic events for children and teens to enjoy at the Maple Shade Library, including storytime, parachute play and arts and crafts for all ages and more.
