For many people, newspapers remain a vital part of the information-gathering process. And, similar to the way some people prefer to read eBooks, being able to read newspapers digitally is becoming more and more popular, both for the convenience and the accessibility. With this in mind, BCLS is pleased to provide access to a vast array of national and local newspapers in a digital format.

The New York Times (NYT) and Wall Street Journal (WSJ) are two newspapers with recognizable names, both nationally and internationally. Through our website you can easily create accounts on the NYT and WSJ websites to gain access to these prestigious newspapers. Both papers are updated minute by minute, so you can find breaking news along with the morning headlines. And both sites offer video clips and interactive features that enable you to dive deeper into the news articles that interest you.

We also realize that, for many people, local newspapers are a great source of information tailored to their own communities. Curious about the construction project starting on Main Street? Wondering how the local football team fared over the weekend? The library provides access to a number of local newspapers, including the Burlington County Times, The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Trentonian, The Star-Ledger and The Press of Atlantic City. All these papers are available to library members; all you need to do is click on the Research and Learn tab on the website and scroll down to All Resources.  Selecting Digital Newspapers will quickly separate our newspaper offerings so you can more easily find the one(s) you want.

And your selections aren’t limited to just local newspapers, either. Newsbank and Newspaper Source Plus are two resources that pull articles and sometimes even provide full digital editions of hundreds of different newspapers from across the United States. That means newspapers like the Baton Rouge Advocate, The Olympian of Washington, and the Cleveland Plain-Dealer are all easily accessible and available daily. What a great way to stay informed!
