Eclipses and Stargazing: a primer from the West Jersey Astronomical Society

With a total solar eclipse just weeks away, here's a chance to learn more about watching our star safely, and about a local group of astronomy enthusiasts who have been peering into the heavens for nearly 60 years.  Gary Weinstein, a 30+ year member of the West Jersey Astronomical Society,  will give a talk about the organization, their regular meetups and methods, and some of the wonders you can see in the night skies, like comets and meteors.  He'll even be bringing a couple of meteorites with him (and explain the difference between meteors and meteorites!)

Eclipse glasses are provided by the Space Science Institute STARnet program and funded by the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation.  For safe eclipse viewing, visit the American Astronomical Society’s webpage.
