Plein Air: Tips and Techniques 

This workshop is for artists seeking to join the scores of outdoor painting enthusiasts who see the light. Award winning plein air painter Denise McDaniel will share tips and strategies to help you enjoy working from life in the field. The presentation includes a live demonstration and antidotes from experience on the road. 

Artist Bio:

Denise McDaniel a representational oil painter best known for plein air, landscapes, architectural renderings and florals. Her art reflects a lifetime of study and practice that began with a love of children’s book illustrations and is informed by academic training and museum scholarship.

McDaniel is an associate member of the Oil Painters of America, the American Impressionist Society, the Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters Association and the Willingboro Art Alliance where she founded the WAA Portrait/Costume Workshop and is a Past President of the club. McDaniel founded and serves as organizer of the Burlington County Farm Fair Plein Air Competition. McDaniel is also a member of the Princeton University Art Museum Docent Association where she currently serves on the Executive Committee as the Study Groups Coordinator. McDaniel teaches drawing and painting at the Center for Modern Aging, Princeton, and the Medford Arts Center, Medford, New Jersey. McDaniel holds a BFA from Moore College of Art and worked professionally as a technical illustrator and graphic designer in government electronics.
