The Burlington County Library System encourages learning, growth and personal development in many forms, ensuring that all members of the community are welcome. On the BCLS events calendar, listed beneath the words “include events for," there is a tab labeled “sensory.” Clicking on the tab filters all of the sensory-friendly events available throughout the system. Some of the events include a Wagging Tales therapy dogs program at the Evesham Library and crafts for tweens at the Burlington County Library.
BCLS also has special needs toys available to check out. The toys in this collection range from instruments such as sand blocks and castanets, to early education items like puzzles to teach kids about animals in sign language. In addition, the parent resource collection provides great materials for all aspects of living with autism, such as creating social stories and various sensory activities. All of the materials can be explored with a subject search in our catalog for special needs toy collection or parent resource collection.
