BURLINGTON COUNTY: ROOTED IN AGRICULTURE
View Documentary May 11 at the County Library
Marisa Bozarth, historian for the Burlington County Parks, will present “Rooted in Agriculture,” featuring interviews with longtime area farmers, on Thursday, May 11 at 6:30 p.m. at the County Library in Westampton.
The presentation is part of the library’s exciting new Community Stories program, an engaging series of personal tales and life journeys from fascinating residents of Burlington County. Registration is requested.
Over the years, Burlington County’s unique geography and geology enabled it to emerge as a leader in the production of cranberries, blueberries, tomatoes, dairy and more. Today, the county is also recognized as a leader in the area of farmland preservation.
Created by the Burlington County Division of Parks, “Rooted in Agriculture” focuses on the county’s rich agricultural history and documents cranberry growers, orchard keepers, and typical county farming operations. Although the documentary runs four hours in length, Bozarth will premier an abridged, one-and-half hour version featuring longtime farmers Coles Roberts, Phil Prickett, Abbott Lee, and other families who have been farming the land for generations. There will be a question-and-answer session following the movie.
The County Library is located at 5 Pioneer Boulevard off Woodlane Road in Westampton. For more information, call (609) 267-9660 or visit www.bcls.lib.nj.us
