“One benefit of summer was that each day we had more light to read by.”
-- Jeanette Walls, The Glass Castle

Now that summer is here and beaches are starting to open up, you may be looking for some great summer and/or beach reads. There’s nothing quite like reading on a beach, or on a lounge chair on a beautiful summer day. Given the stress people are experiencing these days, we could all use a light-hearted, fun, or thought-provoking book to read or listen to. A great book will give you some much-needed pause from the hustle and bustle as well as an opportunity to slow down and enjoy another world for a little while. Since travel is still difficult, the right book can provide a mini-vacation without the plane trip.

The languid months of summer can give you the opportunity to catch up on books that have been piling up, finally tackle that challenging book you’ve been putting off (War and Peace, anyone?), or completely escape into a fun and engaging “beach read” that doesn’t require too much concentration. Whatever you’re looking for, BCLS has the book for you.

If you want some ideas, here are some great books (both old and new) to check out this summer!
