Summer Reading 2022

| Burlington County Library

Get ready to dive into summer at BCLS where you’ll discover Oceans of Possibilities through great books and fabulous programs that offer a tidal wave of fun! Designed to tie into the theme of oceanography, Oceans of Possibilities is the 2022 Summer Reading slogan and once again, children, teens and adults are all welcome to participate. Kicking off June 20, our program runs through Aug 13 and we can’t wait to get started.

Each year, our eight-week Summer Reading program encourages participants to enjoy lots of wonderful books and track their reading progress using Beanstack, the library system’s online program. Of course, we think reading is a great way to spend your leisure time and, as a bonus, kids benefit by avoiding the “summer slide.” Research shows that children who participate in library programs during their summer vacations better retain the reading skills they gained during the school year and may even improve them!

Don’t forget, we have some great in-person library programs planned this summer, too! Adventure Aquarium’s Center for Aquatic Sciences will drop by to help kids learn about some of the unique creatures that call the ocean home. And magician Steve Woyce will deliver a shark-themed magic show that’s both educational and entertaining. Other fun offerings include a LaserScience presentation focusing on the physics of optics and vision, a Wacky Science show that takes a look at static electricity and dry ice, and fabulous performances by The Lizard GuysMr. Scott the Music Man and Miss Kim with her guitar.
