Movie Nights at the Library

We’re getting ready to dim the lights in the Burlington County Library Auditorium this spring when we begin hosting special movie night events celebrating Black history, LGBTQ+ Pride and women’s history through film. Admission to the auditorium, which seats 250 people, is free and registration is not required.

Mark your calendar for these Thursday evening showings beginning at 6 pm:

  Celebrating Black History Through Film
May 19  - This week’s movie selection is the 2013 film 42 starring Harrison Ford as Branch Rickey, legendary manager of the Brooklyn Dodgers who defies major league baseball’s notorious color barrier in 1946 by signing Jackie Robinson to the team. Rated PG-13.
June 16- Enjoy a screening of the 2013 film Hidden Figures about three brilliant African-American women at NASA - Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan and Mary Jackson - who serve as the brains behind astronaut John Glenn’s launch into orbit. Rated PG.

  Celebrating LGBTQ+ Pride Through Film 
June 2 - This week’s selection is the 1982 screwball musical comedy Victor/Victoria starring Julie Andrews as a struggling Paris cabaret singer who becomes the toast of the town when she goes on stage as a female impersonator. Rated PG.
June 23  - The library presents the 2018 film Love, Simon about a 17-year-old who hasn't told his family or friends he's gay and doesn't know the identity of the anonymous classmate he's fallen for online. Resolving both issues proves hilarious, terrifying and life-changing. Rated PG-13

  Celebrating Women’s History through Film
June 9 - Watch the 2014 film The Gabby Douglas Story about the Olympic gymnast who overcame numerous challenges to become the first African-American to win a gold medal as the individual all-around champion at the 2012 London Olympic Games. Rated TV-G.
June 30 - This week’s movie selection is a film about the life and times of one of America’s most prolific Supreme Court Justices. Rated PG.
