If you’re on the hunt for some good books to tuck into your beach bag this summer, plan to stop by the Friends of the Burlington County Library’s upcoming books and media sale. Set for June 9 to 12 at the library in Westampton, the sale will feature a wide selection of gently-used books to browse, including plenty of leisure-time reads.
Beachgoers and bargain hunters will also find a wide selection of DVDs, CDs and more available in the library’s meeting room on:
- Thursday, June 9 from 6 pm to 8:30 pm
- Friday, June 10 from 9 am to 8:30 pm
- Saturday, June 11 from 9 am to 4:30 pm
- Sunday, June 12 from 1 pm to 4 pm
In addition, a preview sale offered to Friends members only will be held on Thursday, June 9 from 4 pm to 6 pm. (Become a Friends member at the door for $15 per person, $20 per family, or $10 per senior or senior family.)
Throughout the four-day sale, explore thousands of newly donated books grouped by genre, including science fiction, history, biography and more, all offered at bargain prices. (Hardcover fiction, trade fiction and paperbacks will remain priced at just $1 each.) There will also be a separate children’s area set up outside the meeting room featuring children’s books, videos, puzzles and parent/teacher materials. Shoppers will also find carts loaded with more than 2,000 volumes focusing on a variety of subjects, including art, automotive, cooking, military, gardening and crafts, and specially priced at just $2.50 and up. There will also be a cart just for quilters featuring project books priced at $1 each and up.
As an added bonus during this book sale, the Friends are also sponsoring a special magic show on Saturday, June 11 at noon in the library auditorium. Admission to the Fun with Magic event featuring magician Steve Woyce is free, but registration is required. The show was planned to recognize a large donation from the estate of magician Henry Strasser and books from his personal library that may be of interest to collectors, professionals and hobbyists will be available for sale outside the auditorium. Subjects include: cards, coins, mentalism, ventriloquism, sleight of hand, magic history, performing for children and more.
Remember, all Friends book sale proceeds benefit library programming. Thanks for your support!
