Page Turners Book Club

This month's book selection is Dewey: The Small-Town Library Cat Who Touched the World by Vicki Myron.

Dewey was only a few weeks old when library director Vicki Myron found him in the book return drop box in the middle of the winter at the Spencer Public Library in Spencer, Iowa. Freezing cold and frostbitten, Dewey quickly became a ray of light for not only Vicki, a single mother who had gone through losing her family farm and having an alcoholic husband, but also the rest of the library staff. In time, Dewey's fame continued to grow, from town to town in Iowa, to the rest of the country, and eventually the world. Dewey's charming, playful, and compassionate nature made him a friend for the masses and a silver lining to the town's greatest financial crisis in its history.

Page Turners meet the third Wednesday of each month at 1 p.m. Our book selections cover all genres and take member input into consideration. During each six month period, we discuss at least one nonfiction book and one classic book. Genres for the remaining months vary. We engage in a guided discussion of the book, using questions provided by a librarian. Our discussions often branch out into chats about other books and authors. This book club is best suited for adults, but all are welcome to join.
