Louise Calloway & Essence of Harmony Choral Society

Today, we honor the remarkable Louise Calloway. Opening remarks will be made by Dr. Jacquelin Agostini. Following the acknowledgement of Louise Calloway will be a performance from the Essence of Harmony Choral Society.

Louise Calloway's passion for history began on her grandmother's porch, where she spent hours making scrapbooks of African-American luminaries. In 2005, she went on to found the Historic Underground Railroad Museum of Burlington County, which she still operates today. Founding the museum was her first project after a 50-year career in social work, teaching college in Africa and volunteering for a number of charities. In 2011, her lifetime work as an educator was recognized by the NAACP with the Distinguished Educators Award.

The Essence of Harmony Choral Society is a choir from Moorestown, NJ. This group of incredible singers have developed a creative performance style that celebrates African-American classical voices. They will be performing selections commemorating the Underground Railroad.
