Celebrate NJ Makers Day with Hands-on Tech Fun, DIY Projects, and More
Activities for the Whole Family, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Celebrate “maker culture” with hands-on tech fun, do-it-yourself projects, crafts, demonstrations and more during Burlington County Library’s Second Annual “Makers Faire” on Saturday, March 19 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Westampton facility.

Part of the New Jersey Makers Day celebration, the event will feature something for everyone, including more than two dozen “maker stations” for visitors to explore. Admission is free and registration is not required.

The goal of NJ Makers Day is to enhance community engagement and develop connections among New Jersey residents by collaborating with libraries, museums, schools, colleges/universities, small businesses and others to promote and explore new opportunities for entrepreneurship, innovation and hands-on learning experiences. Last year’s celebration drew more than 13,000 people to 130 participating sites across the state.

Fun for all ages, the Burlington County Library’s Makers Faire stations will enable visitors to create, tinker and explore throughout the day. Participants are invited to:

• Play with STEM kits such as Snap Circuits, construct marble runs, and build structures with Crystal Climbers and Playstix.
• Watch the library’s 3D printer create objects during special demonstrations.
• Learn how to make marshmallow shooters out of PVC pipe.
• Transform Play-Doh and fruit into a game controller with a MaKey MaKey.
• Explore a variety of hands-on activities and crafts. Have fun creating: a lava lamp; Mandalas; peekaboo paper toys; masks; Star Wars puppets; and rubber band cars.

Additional maker stations will focus on catapults, paper airplanes, radio controlled devices, robotics, sewing, origami, bee keeping, coloring for adults, and more. A variety of local organizations, including NextFab, 4H, Girl Scouts, and others, also will be hosting their own stations.

In addition, the Friends of the Library will be holding a special book sale in the library’s lobby area during the event.
The County Library will be one of many venues across the state to share enthusiasm for, and interest in, the culture of making and creating by offering a wide variety of programs during the NJ Makers Day celebration, which this year is being expanded to two days, March 18 and March 19.

More than just a hobby, the maker movement in the United States is having a significant impact on school curriculum development and growing local economies. Maker spaces across the state provide access to people, information, resources, and tools that facilitate making to a wide variety of skill levels.

The Burlington County Library is located at 5 Pioneer Boulevard off Woodlane Road in Westampton. For more information about the library’s Makers Faire, call (609) 267-9660, or go to   For more information about New Jersey Makers Day, visit
