Self-Care is a buzzy new trend, but what is it really about? It’s being promoted as an indulgent way to care for yourself by buying spa products and treating yourself to luxurious gifts. But self-care is more than that. It can be anything from meditating over a cup of tea or taking a long walk in a new park. It can also be ways to center ourselves and our bodies with yoga and nutrition or taking a break from our busy schedules to make a craft or create some art. Self-Care can also be finding the right distraction.

Right now we need self-care more than ever. Even though it seems that we have more time at home, that time is preoccupied by keeping up with work, family and the news. Right now, the easiest way to self-care might be a good laugh. The library has all your comedy needs covered.

Read a story by your favorite comedian. There are many eBooks by comedy legends Tina Fey and Amy Poehler as well as TV favorites Mindy Kaling and Trevor Noah. Judd Apatow talks about life and comedy in Sick in the Head. Netflix stand-up queens Amy Schumer and Ali Wong bring the laughs in two very funny eBooks.

Turn your walks into laugh fests with audiobooks of classic British comedy. You can listen to Monty Python’s Flying Circus and BBC Radio productions of Fawlty Towers.

You can also catch up with your favorite comedic authors like Nora Ephron and David Sedaris. Remember the wit and wisdom of Dorothy Parker or discover a hilarious new voice like Allie Brosh and Jenny Lawson.
