CINNAMINSON LIBRARY CELEBRATES 50TH ANNIVERSARY
Daylong Celebration Featuring Magic, Music, and More Sat., March 12
Help Cinnaminson Library mark its 50th Anniversary during a free, daylong celebration featuring a magic show, a reception, and live music on Saturday, March 12 beginning at 11 a.m.
A branch of the Burlington County Library System, the Riverton Road facility opened its doors to the public on March 21, 1966 with a staff of six. On that day, the library registered 219 borrowers and checked out 447 books, according to “A History of the Cinnaminson Branch Library” by Marilyn Prant. Fifty years later, the library continues to thrive, offering a vast array of resources and programs, and serving as an integral part of the library system and an important asset to the community.
To help mark this anniversary milestone, the public is invited to join in the March 12 celebration being hosted by the Friends of the Cinnaminson Library. The festivities will begin with a special children’s reading magic show at 11 a.m. featuring Leonardo the Magician. The hour-long program will include all kinds of fun surprises for ages 3 and up, and registration is required.
From 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., there will be a 50th Anniversary Social Reception in the meeting room for visitors to meet staff and members of the Friends of the Cinnaminson Library. There will be photographs, articles, and artifacts from the library’s 50 years of operation on display, and refreshments will be served. Registration is not required.
The celebration will culminate with a performance by the Jersey Sound Chorus of Sweet Adelines at 3 p.m. The Cinnaminson-based chapter of the international, competitive show choir will sing songs of various genres, including everything from show tunes to pop hits, all a cappella. Registration is requested.
The Cinnaminson Library is located at 1619 Riverton Road. For more information about the 50th Anniversary Celebration, call the library at (856) 829-9340.
