Now that Summer Reading is over, it is time to check back in on our 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten (1KBBK) program. Just for a refresher, 1KBBK is a nationwide initiative to promote strong early literacy skills for newborns, infants and toddlers before they head off to school. The program's concept is simple, read 1,000 books to your little ones and keep track of their progress through Beanstack, the library's online reading tracker.

So let’s check in and see how the kids are doing this summer:

Ava was the first of ten who have completed the program.

This fall we will hosting 1KBBK celebrations at all of the library branches. Whether you are brand new to 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten and haven’t even signed up yet, or if you have already finished the entire program, all participants are welcome. We will be dancing, singing and having a blast while celebrating books! There will be activities for all ages invited.

If you haven’t already, be sure to check out the free mobile app for Beanstack. This app makes logging your reading quick and easy by scanning the barcode on the back of any book! This feature is especially helpful when logging all 1,000 books, including books shared on the go and at story times throughout the year. The app is available for free on the App Store and Google Play
