BCLS recently upgraded the online catalog with new features that will enable users to have a better experience when searching for a title or browsing our collection. There are hundreds of minor improvements throughout the system, but these highlights are the major changes you'll encounter.
Previously, when searching for a title on your smartphone or tablet, you would be directed to a mobile version of the catalog. Now, our system will reformat itself to your screen. This means that you'll be using the same powerful search tools no matter what device you're using!
When you are logged in with your library barcode and PIN, titles that have been requested will display the date that a hold was placed on the item. This also will be the case in any saved lists you may have attached to your account.
Our online catalog will now recommend different search techniques. Look for "Need help searching? Click here for tips and instructions" to open up a window with tips relevant to the type of search you are performing.
When searching by keyword or phrase, the online catalog will include a link for a search by related words above the list of results. This option will expand your search by including words synonymous with what you have entered.
