Press Play: Borrow Games from the Library

Libraries are amazing – full of books, and full of people who love books. But libraries offer even more than books – for instance, did you know we have a wide range of popular video games available to borrow? Re-visit a title you haven’t played in a while, or check out a new title you’ve been interested in, but haven’t wanted to commit to buying! The library offers an excellent way to sample a wide range of video game titles, without the hefty price tag if you were to purchase them outright.

Visit the Games & Gaming page to browse through carefully selected staff lists to find a game you might not have heard of in a genre you love. And the Games & Gaming page has the collection organized into systems like Nintendo, PlayStation and Xbox, so finding the right game for your console will be a cinch.

You can also make learning for kids fun with educational games and activities! Play online or printable games through LOTE4Kids, build reading, language and memory skills with TumbleBooks games, explore interactive learning games with The World Almanac® for Kids or borrow internet-free Launchpad Tablets packed with educational content. Kids can also enjoy screen-free learning with WhaZoodle Speaker Sidekicks, featuring audio adventures in space & science, reading & language & more.

BCLS also offers frequent video game events throughout the system, including BCL’s popular Retro Gaming for All Ages, opens a new window – so check the events calendar, opens a new window regularly to see what’s happening.
