NOMINATIONS SOUGHT FOR 2013 HISTORIC PRESERVATION AWARDS

Residents, Organizations & Municipalities Eligible – Deadline March 29

Nominations are now being accepted for the 2013 Burlington County Historic Preservation and History Awards Program, which recognizes residents, organizations and municipalities that have contributed to the preservation of the county’s rich history.

Presented by the Burlington County Freeholders each year in May during National Historic Preservation Month, the awards recognize achievement in a variety of categories, including: historic preservation and restoration; preservation planning and education; and preservation leadership. The overall goal of the program is to honor those who directly or indirectly preserve historic structures and sites, and who explore, record and promote history, as well as those who have proven to be remarkable leaders and educators in the field of history.

The Historic Recognition Program is administered by the Office of the Burlington County Historian through the Burlington County Library System. Projects completed between Jan. 1, 2007 and December 31, 2012 are eligible for consideration. The deadline for submitting nominations is March 29.

For more information, call Burlington County Historian Joe Laufer at (609) 267-9660, ext. 5020, or go to www.BurlcoHistorian.com for guidelines and application forms.
