Having respect for yourself and confidence in your own abilities and self-worth is so important. According to nationalteenselfesteemmonth.com, a few ways to become a better you are to accept yourself, love the people around you, eat healthy, exercise, respect the planet, and be awesome!

One way to keep up self-esteem is by connecting with others. BCLS offers a wide variety of teen programs that provide the opportunity to meet others who have the same interests. You may even discover a new hobby. Programs such as self-defense, anime club and cupcake decorating are just a few of our upcoming teen events. If you’re looking for a way to wind down from the stress of high school, why not join one of our yoga or dance classes? These programs and more can be found on our teen calendar.

Another way to improve self-esteem is by getting involved! Did you know that in addition to participating in library programs, teens can become library volunteers ? Ask your local library about its Teen Advisory Board or Summer Reading volunteer opportunities.
