You have a story inside you, don’t you? Maybe it’s a science fiction novel. Maybe it’s a memoir. Maybe it’s a romance or an inspirational story. Whatever your story is, it’s time to put it into words, perhaps even 50,000 of them.
The New Jersey Author's Network and NaNoWriMo, the world’s largest writing event and nonprofit literary crusade, have teamed up to help you do exactly that! November is National Novel Writing Month, and Cinnaminson Library is hosting several events in support of this program. The first thing you want to do is to go to the NaNoWriMo website and sign up as a novelist. After that, call Cinnaminson Library to register for our NaNoWriMo events to help keep you focused and inspired.
Saturday, November 2nd, 2:00pm-5:00pm -- “The Critical First Page” — We will talk about first drafts. Bring along your work in progress, and we’ll critique the first page or opening paragraphs. Feel free to use the library meeting room for a write-in session between 10am-2pm.
Thursday, November 7th, 6:00pm-8:30pm -- “Romance and Fantasy” — We’ll talk about the diversity and trends in both genres and also touch on publishing houses, editors and book proposals.
Thursday, November 14th, 6:00pm-8:30pm -- 11/14 “Break into Publishing” — Let’s discuss the pros and cons of the various routes to publishing.
Thursday, November 21st, 6:00pm – 8:30pm – 11/21 “Cozy Mysteries and Inspirational Women’s Fiction” — Learn the latest trends and how to make your work stand out.
These workshops will be conducted by published authors from the New Jersey Author's Network. You do not have to be participating in NaNoWriMo to attend the workshops, but it will add to the fun. The NaNoWriMo program begins on November 1st ends on November 30th.
