Databases

To access BCLS databases, visit our website and select Online Resources A-Z under the eLearning & Research tab. You must have a library card to utilize the resources.

American Women’s History

American Women’s History details important people, events, legislation, and issues relevant to the study of women's history in the United States.

Utilize the categories under the Browse section on the main page to begin your research. The Topic Center also provides a list of important subjects throughout history; ranging from the 15th century through present day.

American History Online

This history resource spans more than 500 years of political, military, social, and cultural events, highlighting the important milestones of the American experience.

To locate information on famous women and events, use the Biography and Events and Topics  sections to begin your search. On the Biography page users can search for an individual by  topic, occupation, or time period. Through the Events and Topics page visitors can locate information by topic or time period.

Biography Collection Complete

A collection of biographies supporting history, science, the arts, music, literature, business, government, entertainment and many other areas.

This resource is an excellent tool for users who wish to gain information on a specific individual. Simply type the person’s name into the search box on the main page to locate a biography. To select current full-text articles, use the limiters located on the left side of the search result screen.

BCLS is also home to a vast amount of texts and audiovisuals pertaining to women’s history. To locate materials, search the online catalog or visit your local branch.
