County Historian, Joe Laufer

A former Professor of Communications and Public Speaking, Joe Laufer has been "practicing" what he preached by speaking in public since his college days in the early 1960s. His first public lecture was at Russell Sage College in Troy, NY while he was still a college student in Rensselaer, NY. Between 1986 and 1993, as a part of the Christopher Columbus Quincentenary (1992), Joe delivered over 400 speeches to National, Regional and State Conferences, Colleges and Universities, High Schools, Middle Schools and Elementary Schools and a variety of clubs and organizations throughout the United States.

The Office of Burlington County Historian is dedicated to the preservation and sharing of the rich history of Burlington County, New Jersey. The County Historian is appointed annually by the Burlington County Board of Chosen Freeholders and serves the citizens of Burlington County as a volunteer.

The county was formally established in 1694. In 1994 we celebrated the Tercentenary of Burlington County.
