Oldest of thirty nine historic sites in Mounty Holly is the Three Tuns Tavern at Pine and Mill Streets, built in 1723 by Samuel Bryant and used as a tavern for 250 years. The Court of Admiralty met here during the last year of the Revolutionary War.
The present Alexander's Inn, Burlington, on the site of the historic Blue Anchor tavern at Broad and High Streets. Many of the founding fathers of the country paused here, journeying from Philadelphia to New York; and in later years, under the name Belden House, the Inn entertained many of the theatrical personalities of the later 1800's who performed in the nearby Birch Opera House.
The home of an early American portrait painter and sculptor, Patience Lovell Wright (1725-1786), still stands at Bordentown.
The birthplace of J. Fenimore Cooper, center, home of the Burlington County Historical Society in Burlington. The Lawrence House is at the right. At left is a corner of the Pearson-How house of 1705, recently restored.
