Doctor Who is a British television show that has exploded in popularity in the states, not to say that it hasn't had many fans here since its inception in 1963. Doctor Who fans celebrated the show's 50th anniversary last year to great fanfare (see Doctor Who: The Day of the Doctor). For the uninitiated, Doctor Who follows the journeys of the Doctor and his companion through time and space; the Doctor is a Time Lord that travels in a time machine (called the TARDIS, for Time and Relative Dimension in Space) disguised as a blue British police box.  Every few seasons or so the Doctor 'regenerates' into a new form (portrayed by a new actor) and his companions come and go. In 2005 the series underwent a reboot after some years of hiatus and has been going strong every since. Three actors have portrayed the Doctor since the show's reboot, and a new one is set to take over in the next season.

This list is presented in chronological order.

Seasons (2005-Present):

Doctor Who Season 1 Disc 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5

Doctor Who reinvents itself into a hip new hit for a new generation. Christopher Eccleston's Doctor is wise and funny, cheeky and brave. An alien and a loner, his detached logic gives him a vital edge when the world's in danger.

Doctor Who Season 2 Disc 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6

David Tennant steps into the role of the Doctor, now in his tenth incarnation. The second series is full of more thrills, more laughs, more heartbreak and some terrifying new aliens and old acquaintances.

Doctor Who Season 3 Disc 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6

The further adventures of the time traveling alien adventurer and his companions.

Doctor Who Season 4 Disc 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6

This is the season that introduces Catherine Tate as full-time companion Donna Noble, working alongside David Tennant's Doctor across time and space. And it's--against initial expectations--arguably the best combination since the show returned. There's no hint of romance between the pair, as they instead knuckle down to business, occasionally helped by the likes of Martha Jones, Sarah Jane Smith, and Jack Harkness. And let's not forget the collection of monsters we meet this time around. The Daleks and Davros are the main attractions. After viewing the series, chances are you'll be counting shadows around you, and wary of getting on the wrong side of the Ood.

Doctor Who: The Specials Disc 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

The next doctor: Christmas 1851, and Cybermen stalk Victorian London. The Doctor discovers a spate of mysterious deaths, and he's surprised to meet another Doctor. The two Doctors will need to be enough to stop the rise of the CyberKing.

Doctor Who Season 5 Disc 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6

After his explosive regeneration, the Eleventh Doctor awakes to discover his TARDIS is about to crash. After falling from the sky, he pulls himself out of the wreckage to come face-to-face with young Amy Pond. The Doctor promises to take Amy to the stars. But first they must divert an alien plot that could destroy the Earth. The Doctor makes good his promise, and Amy boards the regenerated TARDIS, ready to take to the stars on a series of wild adventures that will change her life.
