Starting on November 1st, 2013, writers participating in the NaNoWriMo challenge will be furiously pounding their keyboards as they attempt to write an original novel of 50,000 within 30 days. Why? Because November is National Novel Writing Month, or NaNoWriMo, the world’s largest writing event and nonprofit literary crusade. Participants pledge to write 50,000 words in a month, starting from scratch and reaching “The End” by November 30. There are no judges, no prizes, and entries are deleted from the server before anyone even reads them.
Want to join in on the fun? Sign up for our writing workshops! You don’t have to be participating in NaNoWriMo, but if you’re interested in learning more about how to get published, this is a great way to start. In our first workshop in this series, The Critical First Page, we’ll be talking about first drafts. Please join two local published authors as we offer advice and insight. Bring along your work-in-progress, and we will critique your first page or opening paragraphs. Feel free to come to the meeting room early, between 10am and 2pm, to get in some writing time.
