The In Verse Poetry & Prose Slam is a competition that invites writers to come together and perform their work, win a few prizes, and enjoy their time with us. It's a safe space where you can have your voices heard while having a have a fun afternoon. Writers are not limited to poetry. Prose is also accepted, but there is a three minute time limit on all pieces.

  • In between rounds, the opportunity to perform on the open mic is available to all the audience members.
  • There will be refreshments provided!
  • The competition is open to teens, adults and seniors.
  • You must be signed up in advance in order to participate.
  • Non-participating audience members are welcome, of course!

The In Verse Poetry meetings leading up to this event (Thursday, April 6) will be workshops focusing on slam poetry, how to write a slam poem and how to perform! You are encouraged to attend these meetings to prepare for the slam.

First prize will be a $75 gift certificate.
Second prize will be a $25 gift certificate.
Third prize will be an honorable mention.
