Introduction to Traditional Chinese Culture
and Shen Yun Performing Arts
Wednesday, April 3, 2013
6:30 PM to 7:45 PM
Experience a beautiful presentation about traditional Chinese culture and classical Chinese dance by Shen Yun (meaning the beauty of divine beings' dancing) at The Library Company of Burlington on Wednesday, April 3, 2012 at 6:30pm to 7:45pm
For 5,000 years, Chinese culture was heralded as a divine gift. Its values of benevolence, honor, etiquette, wisdom, and sincerity were perpetuated for generations and dynasties, all the way into the contemporary era.
The presentation aims to bridge an understanding of the ancient Chinese civilization with the modern world, and thereby share some of the most classic stories in Chinese history. The presentations uses Shen Yun Performing Arts and Chinese dance as a cultural lens, both to meaningfully bring this culture into the modern day, and to explain how the virtues of Chinese history are being perpetuated by modern artists. In recent decades, through campaigns like the Cultural Revolution, however, this treasured heritage has been almost completely destroyed. But there’s a non-profit organization based in New York whose mission is to revive this majestic tradition.
Covered in the presentation will be the essence of 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture and civilization; as well as storytelling through classical Chinese dance and music. This will surely be an educational and inspiring session.
